The USPS has approved funding to proceed with site development and project design, but has not yet approved a budget for construction. Site preparation work is expected to take about a year. The land is located just west of the GM Powertrain headquarters building, north of Montcalm and west of Glenwood.

"This project in Pontiac is a good example of how GM works with the state and local communities to support productive economic development," says Matt Cullen, GM's general manager of economic development and enterprise services.

"The site work will be done in a manner that is sensitive to the community while ensuring we have a superior location preparedfor the potential USPS distribution center," says Pontiac Mayor Willie Payne.
