Career City is a vocational school with locations in Miami, Gainesville and 30,000 sf of leased space in the Crown Center Complex here on Cypress Creek Road. More than half, 669 of its total 1,258-person enrollment are in Fort Lauderdale. Atrium 2000 has been more than 90% leased for the past five years, but its largest tenant recently vacated the building, leaving room for Career City's local needs. The college will relocate from Crown Center to 42,000 sf of its new building.
Jay Adams, first VP, and associate Andrew Ackerman of the local office of CB Richard Ellis represented Koll Bren in the transaction. Les Byron, senior investment adviser with the local office of Sperry Van Ness Commercial Realty, represented the buyer.
Adams says the simultaneous exit of the tenant and Career College's need for expansion represented "a win-win situation for both parties. It worked out perfectly for the college and Koll Bren."
