Triarc, which formerly owned Snapple Beverages, is a holding company that through its subsidiaries is the franchisor of the Arby's restaurant system and is the owner/operator of 235 Arby's locations nationwide. In addition, this past July the firm acquired 64% of the capital interest of Deerfield & Co., LLC, a Chicago-based alternative asset management company.
A Triarc spokesperson says the company has no comment on the possible relocation except to say that negotiations are ongoing. The firm currently employs 55 workers at its New York City headquarters.
The Westchester County IDA approved an inducement resolution for Triarc that would give the firm approximately $400,000 in sales tax exemptions if it decided to lease space at the Rye Brook property. In its filings with the IDA, the firm stated, "The financial assistance of the agency is requested in order to enable the applicant to retain operations in New York State, thereby avoiding the necessity of moving its operations to less expensive facilities in Connecticut, with a loss of approximately 55 jobs."
Robert Weisz, president of RPW Group of White Plains, says that negotiations between Triarc and his firm are about 95% complete and that he is hopeful the deal can close in the next few weeks. He adds that lease discussions are ongoing with other prospective tenants who are interested in about half of the building. RPW Group acquired the complex, which totals approximately 625,000 sf, from Altria Group earlier this year in a deal reportedly valued at more than $40 million.
