Effective immediately, Jean-Jacques Pergant, WHM's president, takes over responsibilities for all operations of the Boca Raton Resort & Club. He comes from a 10-year stint as SVP of London's Savoy Group, which Blackstone sold in September. Pergant replaces David Feder, former president and COO of BRI, who held various positions with the company over the past 17 years.
Effective in January, Josephe Berger, another WHM president, will head the BRI properties in Naples and Fort Lauderdale. He comes from a five-year post as general manager of Westin St. Francis Hotel in San Francisco. The former BRI properties include Hyatt Pier 66, Bahia Mar Beach Resort, and Grande Oaks Golf Club in Fort Lauderdale and Registry Resort & Club, Edgewater Beach Hotel & Club, and Naples Grande Golf Club in Naples.
Blackstone plans to renovate the Boca Beach Club and refurbish the lobby, restaurant and golf villas at Boca Raton Resort & Club. "Sister properties will also see a variety of enhancements," according to a Blackstone statement, which also says, "Renovation concepts are currently under review."
In unrelated news, Mike Helfey, COO of Gables Residential, resigns, effective next year, "in order to spend more time with his family," according to a statement. He has been with the locally based operator of multifamily properties for the past 20 years and "will "assist with an orderly transition for his successor," the statement says. Gables retained Dru Haskins of Equinox Partners, the worldwide specialty real estate executive search firm, to begin a COO search process immediately.
