That gives the planned 668-unit Centennial Lakes townhome and single-family subdivision the green light on breaking ground on an estimated $55-million venture located between Priest and Woodstock roads. To win the rezoning approval, Centennial Lakes developers donated 29 acres to the county's school district, the county confirms to GlobeSt.com.
Centennial Lakes is one of several new ventures planned in Cherokee County where land is still available at less than sky-high prices, area industrial brokers tell GlobeSt.com. Waiting for approval on its $100-million mixed-use venture in Cartersville is Habersham Investments and Development Corp. of Roswell. Habersham has submitted preliminary plans for 250,000 sf of commercial space, 80,000 sf of office, a 170,000-sf business park and 844 single-family and townhomes.
Another project waiting for county approval is JGLW Partners' planned 1,378-acre mixed-use community at an estimated $50-million development cost near GA 369 and GA 372, along the Etowah River. The Bessemer, AL-based developer wants to build a shelter component that would comprise 2,800 townhomes, apartment units and single-family residences along with an undetermined amount of commercial space.
