Working with the US Department of Homeland Security in its Ready Business campaign the Real Estate Information Sharing and Analysis Center has become the leading force behind a new awareness campaign designed to prompt owners and managers to take the time now to confront issues of homeland security, emergency preparedness and response planning. "The real estate sector is committed to being part of the solution to the nation's homeland security challenges," says Jeffrey D. DeBoer, chairman of the Real Estate ISAC and president and CEO of the Real Estate Roundtable. "This is a coordinated campaign to remind industry participants of their responsibility."
The Real Estate ISAC--a public-private endeavor involving real estate industry members and federal homeland security leaders, and established to put in place a coordinated response to the threat of terrorism--is joined in spearheading the campaign by Real Estate Media Inc., publisher of Real Estate Forum magazine and GlobeSt.com. The driving force of the campaign effort is a print advertising program labeled "Fighting Terrorism," which will be seen over the next six months in Real Estate Media publications, as well as in publications of ISAC affiliates.
"The idea is to create awareness throughout the industry as we enter this new era," says Real Estate Media president & CEO Jonathan A. Schein.
The ad campaign encourages relevant parties to, among other practices: recognize their responsibility to address terrorism-security issues, including emergency preparedness and response, and build relationships with law enforcement officials at all levels. It also encourages them to intercept potential disaster, report suspicious incidents or activity to local law enforcement and the federal government.
