The Flats, an 86-unit, student housing apartment venture, is being built on two acres on 16th Street between the new IKEA store and the Georgia Tech campus. Projected rents are $675 per tenant. Cable TV and Internet services is included in the rent.

The building will house a total 281 students in two-bedroom, three-bedroom and four-bedroom apartments. The Flats is scheduled for completion in summer 2006 and will be open to all metro area colleges and universities.

"While we have some students living in our other Lane Co. properties in the Atlantic Station redevelopment, this is the only community planned specifically for students," says Bill Donges, Lane's chief operating officer. Amenities include a pool, garden, study rooms, separate computer, fitness and game rooms, and controlled-access covered parking.

Lane/Flagstone Ventures acquired Lexington Crossing I and II student apartments in Gainesville, FL in 2002. At Atlantic Station, Lane's other projects include the Element, Art Foundry condos, the Park District Apartments and a newly constructed apartment community.
