HARTSDALE, NY-The Irving, TX-based Michaels Stores has signed a lease for 25,000 sf of space at the Waterfront at Port Chester, a retail center owned by G&S Investors LLC of Old Bethpage. In addition, Michaels Stores has signed an 18,000-sf deal at the former Kids R Us location at 333 North Central Ave. /Route 100 here. The property is owned by Jade Realty.
Michaels Stores plans to open the Port Chester store on April 21 and the Hartsdale store on June 23, says Colleen T. Quinn, president of Quinn Commercial Properties, which represented the retail store in both transactions. "These locations will fill a void in the under stored arts and crafts market in Westchester County."
She adds that the deals mark the firm's entrance into the Westchester County market. Previously, Quinn negotiated a number of leases for Michael Stores in the Hudson Valley region including transactions for stores in Newburgh, Brewster, Poughkeepsie and Kingston. "Both the Port Chester and Hartsdale stores are well located and should generate a considerable amount of traffic to the shopping centers in which they are located."
Michaels Stores Inc. is a specialty retailer of arts, crafts, framing, floral, wall decor and seasonal merchandise. As of Jan. 6, the company owned and operated 849 Michaels Stores in 48 states and Canada, 164 Aaron Brothers stores, eight Recollections stores and three Star Wholesale operations.
