The Commerce City Council approved the venture planned for one million sf of commercial space on 128 acres, 250 townhomes on 32 acres, 255 single-family residences on 75 acres and 31 acres of park land. The Jackson County development site is off the US 441 bypass and along the Interstate 85 corridor. The mixed-use venture by developer J. David Chatham will be the first of its kind for the city.
Republic Property Co. of Atlanta also has filed preliminary development plans with Commerce for an estimated $176-million, 4.4-million-sf, 14-building distribution park on 368 acres at GA 98 and the proposed Bana Road.
