PETALUMA, CA-The 160,000-sf Redwood Gateway retail center under construction here is 80% spoken for, according to the developer, Los Angeles-based Robertson Properties Group. Located on North McDowell Blvd. at Redwood Way, the $35-million development is anchored by an un-owned Kohl's Department store that recently opened in a 96,000-sf building. The remaining 62,500 sf of retail and restaurant space on the 16-acre property is scheduled to open this spring. Pre-lease commitments for about half of that space have been received from Michael's (23,000 sf) and Pier 1 Imports (9,300 sf). Robertson Properties Group says it is in discussions with several restaurants and other community retailers for the remaining space.Tom Power and Sara Sanders in Staubach's San Francisco office are managing leasing on behalf of Robertson Properties. Mercer Construction is the general contractor. Perkowitz & Ruth Architects is the architect. Robertson Properties Group owns and manages more than 5 million sf of industrial, office and retail space. Company VP Mark Miller says he likes the Redwood Gateway development for its easy access to Highway 101 and its location near several business parks. Miller adds that his company continues to seek land for retail development, redevelopment and investment opportunities. The company has identified California, Hawaii and Washington as primary targets for property acquisitions with Arizona, Nevada, Oregon, Colorado and Idaho also under consideration. The firm is acquiring properties ranging from 10 to 100+ acres, says Miller.
