Currently, Hernandez is director of Hawk's Crossing, a retail complex in Coral Springs that LNR acquired earlier this month and is redeveloping into a Target-anchored 260,000-sf property. At Codina, she was involved in the redevelopment of Town and Country Mall, the development of the Red Road Commons multifamily complex in South Miami and several flex build-to-suits in the Airport West and Medley markets. In her new LNR post, she is responsible for building business and will participate in the entire process from negotiations to execution, according to Randy Weisburd, VP of that group in Miami.
On Jan. 31, LNR shareholders are expected to vote in favor of a merger under which Riley Property Holdings will acquire LNR for about $3.8 billion. Riley is majority-owned by New York-based Cerberus Capital Management and Blackacre Institutional Capital Management, its real estate arm. Following the merger, LNR, now listed on the NYSE as LNR, will continue as a private company.
Weisburd tells GlobeSt.com, "nothing will change with Maria's position as a result of the Riley deal. One of the main reasons we pursued Maria is because she is one of the top executives in South Florida real estate. Her extensive experience in both the business and design sides of real estate will help us expand the Commercial Property Group's presence [here]."
