David Rouble with Thomson Realty Group in Dallas confirms Computex Support Services Inc. re-upped a headquarters location in the midst of a search for 14,000 sf to 17,000 sf to get three locations under one roof. "We ran out of time and signed a two-year deal," he tells GlobeSt.com about the renewal for 1601 E. Plano Parkway.

Computex, a 20-year-old company, has had its headquarters in the Plano 190 Business Center for five years. The trio of flex industrial buildings, owned by Northwestern Mutual Life Insurance Co. of Milwaukee, is managed and leased by George Tanghongs of Dallas-based Bradford Co. According to CB Richard Ellis Inc.'s latest market report, industrial space in the northeast Dallas sector is bringing $4.07 per sf to $6.88 per sf in an 87-million-sf inventory with a 16.2% vacancy.

Computex designs and builds corporate data centers, computer rooms and "mission-critical" infrastructures. According to the company Web site, the firm bought "millions of dollars of surplus equipment" from derailed data center and telecom projects in the 2001-02 tech meltdown. Rouble says the renewal truly is buying some shopping time for the consolidation plan.
