John D. Harris Jr., executive vice president and corporate controller at Wells Real Estate Funds Inc., becomes senior vice president and chief accounting officer. Robert M. Jackson, a Troutman Sanders LP partner, joins the locally based REIT as senior VP, general counsel and corporate secretary. Mark Gambill, regional VP for Simon Property Group, will head Cousins' MarketCenter projects.
Harris will join Cousins in early February. His responsibilities will include all financial reporting, Securities and Exchange Commission reporting and overseeing the company's accounting operations. Harris previously was controller at locally based JDN Realty Corp. and most recently as senior vice president and chief financial officer. He also worked for 10 years at Ernst & Young's local office.
Jackson practiced at Troutman Sanders for nine years, initially as an associate and later as a partner. He focuses on federal, state and international taxation issues and has represented developers and investors in various real estate transactions. Jackson began his legal career as an associate with Johnson, Smith, Densborn, Wright & Heath in Indianapolis.
Mark Gambill joins Cousins as senior vice president and director of the REIT's power center development efforts. At Simon, Gambill oversaw community center development in the Eastern and Southern regions.
"Over the past few years, we have continued to be very active in the power center segment on the West Coast, but adding Mark immediately allows us to move on power center opportunities in the eastern half of the country," says Joel Murphy, president of Cousins' retail division.
