Plaza Collina would include an undetermined amount of townhomes, office, retail, restaurant and entertainment space. The first phase calls for 80,000 sf of restaurant space. The second phase envisions about 200 townhomes. The final phase, to be built between 2008 and 2010, calls for an additional 250,000 sf of mixed-use space. Local planners tell GlobeSt.com the development site is within a radius that includes 100,000 households.
When completed, Plaza Collina will easily dwarf Lake County's existing largest retail complex, the 20-year-old, 561,000-sf Lake Square Mall on US 441 North in Leesburg. Plaza Collina would be slightly smaller than another planned mega-sized project, the 1.6-million-sf Winter Garden Village at Fowler Groves in Winter Garden, six miles west of Clermont, area brokers tell GlobeSt.com. A groundbreaking date for the Winter Garden project is still being determined.
