DFW's Don O'Bannon has been instrumental in increasing the number of African American firms securing airport contracts. There are 155 firms currently engaged in open contracts, with the payout surpassing $94.3 million. Since O'Bannon came on board in May 2002, there has been a 760% increase in the use of African American firms for airport work.
"Don has done an outstanding job making the Airport accessible to small and emerging businesses, I'm glad he is being recognized for his outstanding work," said Jeff Fegan, CEO of DFW International Airport. The association represents more than 100 contractors in North Texas.
