ATLANTA-Cousins Properties Inc., one of the Southeast's most aggressive commercial real estate organizations, is restructuring its retail division as it forms a new business group within that sector.
Complementing that move, Cousins has promoted seven executives to direct the company's fast rising national presence in the retail sector. Steve Yenser, senior vice president of leasing, moves up to executive vice president and chief operating officer of the retail division. He joined Cousins in 2002.
Bill Bassett was named executive vice president and director of development for the retail division. He joined Cousins in 1994. David Nelson, senior vice president, asset management, adds the additional title and duties of chief financial officer in the retail division. Nelson joined Cousins in 2003. Darryl Bonner was promoted to vice president and director of leasing. He joined Cousins in 2004.
In other Cousins' categories, Kevin Poiston has been promoted to senior vice president and Southeast regional director for the company's Avenue-brand projects. He has been with Cousins since 1999. Alex Chambers, who also joined the firm in 1999, has been named senior vice president and director of the Central Region.
Bob Manarino will continue to head up all new business opportunities in California and surrounding western states as senior vice president and director of Cousins' Western Region Development group. Mark Gambill is the company's newest recruit, coming from Simon Property Group where he was a senior vice president.
At Cousins, Gambill will also be a senior vice president and director of the firm's MarketCenter projects. He will be based in Atlanta and will direct Cousins' power center business in the eastern half of the US.
In non-retail moves, Cousins has added two directors and expanded the board's size to 11 members. James H. Hance Jr. and S. Taylor Glover are the new directors. Hance comes to Cousins from Bank of America where he was vice chairman at the bank's headquarters in Charlotte, NC. Glover is president and CEO of locally based Turner Enterprises Inc. Prior to joining Turner in 2002, he spent 30 years with Merrill Lynch, most recently as senior vice president of the Private Client Group.
