The project would take 35 years to complete with an estimated build-out value of about $10 billion, according to conceptual plans filed with the two counties. Wolf Creek would have 11,000 acres in Carroll County and 800 acres in Douglas County. The project is about 25 miles west of Hartsfield-Jackson International Airport.
Temple Inland, a timber harvesting company, has owned the land in both counties for 50 years. The company also owns about a half million acres in North and Western Georgia and Alabama.
The Chattahoochee-Flint Regional Development Center and the Atlanta Regional Commission are reviewing the project's plans. If approved, the venture could break ground in two years, are industrial brokers familiar with the enterprise, tell GlobeSt.com.
Temple Inland Land and Timber Co. is a subsidiary of Austin, TX-based Temple-Inland Inc. which also has been active in new metro Atlanta projects in the last five years.
