BTS has filed preliminary plans with the county for the development site at Charlie Smith, Thompson Mill and Liberty Church roads in Braselton. Another developer, Farm Equities Inc. of Winder, has also filed conceptual plans for a 170-home subdivision on 173 acres at Old Hog Mountain and Freeman Johnson roads.

And in Atlanta, near the two-million-sf City Hall East complex where the city is studying a proposed Beltline corridor, locally based Gellerstedt Development LLC has won approval from the city's zoning review board to have a 10.5-acre site rezoned from light industrial to mixed residential and commercial. The city council is expected to formally vote on the rezoning request in March.

Gellerstedt plans to develop three tracts of housing and commercial projects on the site, according to preliminary plans filed with the zoning board. The project's first phase is expected to be on a parcel facing Glen Iris Drive.
