He continues, "Sheraton is perhaps the most global brand in its category and its international pipeline is quite robust, particularly in China, which is the hottest hotel market on the globe. Our moderately-priced Four Points by Sheraton brand still has plenty of room to grow both in the United States and abroad and we continue to aggressively expand the brand."
Starwood officials did not release the cost of the hotel expansion program.
Among the hotels to be added to Starwood's current portfolio of more than 750 worldwide are six hotels in the New York metro area. In New Jersey, Starwood plans to open the 225-room W Hoboken Hotel and Residences in Hoboken by the third quarter of 2006, the 200-room Sheraton Mount Laurel in Mount Laurel by the second quarter of 2006 and the 410-room Four Points by Sheraton Wilshire Grand in West Orange during the first quarter of this year.
In New York, new Starwood hotels in the pipeline include: the 153-room Sheraton JFK Airport in Jamaica, which is scheduled to open by the third quarter of this year; the 103-room Four Points by Sheraton Plainview in Plainview, which will open its doors by the second quarter of 2005; and the 153-room Four Points by Sheraton SOHO in Manhattan, which is slated to open by the third quarter of next year.
