Following a networking breakfast among the area's top-level real estate industry executives, Jonathan Schein, president and CEO of Real Estate Media, will open the third annual day-long RealShare gathering here. Conference coordinator Colleen McShane says more than 500 have registered for this year's event, which is hosted by Real Estate Media, publisher of GlobeSt.com, Real Estate Forum and numerous print and online publications. More than two dozen area companies are sponsoring the event and there will be twice as many exhibitors this year, McShane reports. SRO attendance at panel discussions in previous years prompted a move to the Marriott, "where breakout rooms are larger and more plentiful to avoid overcrowding."
Keynoter Gerard Sweeney, Brandywine's president and CEO, kicks off RealShare with a candid assessment of what's next for both Center City and the suburbs. With Cira Centre nearing completion in University City and the acquisition of the Rubenstein portfolio, Brandywine has strengthened its ties--and tied its fate--to both markets.
Leasing and investment specialists will spell out the strategies office property owners will pursue in the light of Center City's looming vacancies. Will conversions to the booming residential market become one of those options? Or will the current rental and condo frenzy lead to an over-supply? Multifamily developers and the brokers selling all those new condos weigh in on future multifamily prospects and prices.
As activity in the suburbs picks up, experts assess the outlook, submarket by submarket and segment by segment, for both leasing and investment. Throughout the area, a heated investment climate has taken prices to new heights. Investors and those who fund them tell whether the appetite will continue or slow down. They also reveal how deals get done.
Two popular RealShare features return this year. Michael Desiato, Real Estate Media editor-in-chief, again goes "Inside the Real Estate Mind." This year, Brian O'Neill, chairman of O'Neill Properties Group, will be in the spotlight. And everyone gets a crack at posing questions and airing concerns during a no-holds-barred "Town Meeting." RealShare closes with a networking luncheon featuring focus group roundtables.
