It will be built on a triangular piece of property, bounded by Cass, Times Square and Park Place in the city's Central Business District. In addition to a passenger boarding area, the center will include a 30,000-sf building with two upper levels and a below-ground level.
The new center is needed in part because of construction and development of the new Campus Martius Park, which interrupted some bus routes, leaving busses unable to use an outdoor passenger waiting area in the former Cadillac Square. Architectural firm Parsons Brinckerhoff is designing the building.
