The low-rise suburban office park competed with 11 properties in BOMA/Orlando's 20th annual TOBY (the Office Building of the Year) award program. Diane Sitzer manages SouthPark.

The best-of-the-best award is "intended to grant special recognition to the property management team that boasts the highest total of the inspection scores, irrespective of category type," Debbie Chamberlain, TOBY Awards committee chair, tells GlobeSt.com.

SouthPark and other category winners compete in the Southeast regional finals April 16 in Memphis. The regional winners then compete in Anaheim, CA in June for international recognition. BOMA/Orlando members Colorado-based ProLogis and Manulife Financial of Toronto won international awards last year.

In the industrial office park competition this year, the three-building, 20.5-acre ProLogis Office Park at Orlando Central Park was ranked first. Chamberlain manages the park. Other TOBY winners included the five-story, class A, 239,000-sf Maitland Promenade II building in the 100,000 to 249,999-sf category managed by Sara Sneen at Opus South Management Corp. for owner Maitland Promenade II LLC.

The 28-story, 450,000-sf Bank of America Center in Downtown won in the 250,000 to 499,999-sf category. Kim Sharrow at Dallas-based Gaedeke Group LTD manages the property for owner US Office Holdings.

The nine-story, 271,924-sf Orlando City Hall, topped by a 120-foot diameter, 25-foot high copper dome, was ranked best in the government buildings category. Chris Robinson of Jones Lang LaSalle Americas Inc. manages the building for the city.

Rebecca Whitley of the Walt Disney World Co. was named property manager of the year. Terri Walter of Jones Lang LaSalle is assistant property manager of the year. Kenneth Mahan of Flagler Development was named engineer of the year. Susan Chapman of Valley Crest Landscape Maintenance Co. is associate member of the year. And Mechanical Services of Central Florida was named associate vendor of the year.
