Bradley C. Stone and Jake Zacuto of Stone Co. report that DISC signed for the space after surveying many sites in the Los Angeles area for a location that would provide ample room for its operations, along with the parking and the fire and life safety systems necessary for such an operation. Stone and Zacuto represented DISC in the lease with Marina Business Center I, which was represented by Chris Strickfaden and Jim Bowers of PM Realty Group. Terms of the transaction were not disclosed, but real estate industry sources believe the total consideration for the 10-year deal is in excess of $15 million.
Stone says that because of strict government standards regarding the permitting of property for medical and surgical uses, finding suitable sites for a project of this size was especially complicated and difficult. Beyond the governmental requirements, the location needed to meet strict standards to ensure proper operation of DISC's onsite medical equipment, Stone adds. The deal represents one of the largest transactions signed in the Marina del Rey submarket in more than a year.
