"I've known [Christensen] for about 15 years and have great respect for him as a senior real estate banker," says John Wain, head of Calyon Americas' real estate group. "At Fleet he was exposed to just about every type of real estate deal out there, so he comes with a breadth of experience that's fantastic."
"We have a pretty wide platform," Wain tells GlobeSt.com, adding that he expects increased lending to publicly traded REITs and private firms. Wain joined Calyon last September from Bayerische Landesbank. Calyon has had a long-term presence in the US Real Estate market and provides a broad range of financing to developers and investors for residential buildings, office buildings and commercial malls.
Christensen previously was affiliated with HSBC Securities Inc., where he handled commercial real estate loan syndications. Prior to joining HSBC, Christensen spent 13 years at Fleet Financial Group. At Fleet, he was part of the bank's real estate loan syndications group and prior to that was a senior relationship manager in the commercial real estate department. Before joining Fleet, Christensen was at Manufacturers Hanover Trust Co. covering national real estate accounts.
