The 25-story tower at 1 N. Charles St. was developed in 1963 by Jacob Blaustein--then head of American Oil Co., the company currently known as BP Amoco. The seller was Santa Fe, NM-based BGK Equities LLC, which acquired the class B building back in 1996 in a $9-million transaction. According to city real estate records, the property has a current assessed value of $8.8 million.
Today, the Blaustein is about 60% occupied by the Crown Central Petroleum corporate headquarters, law offices and a several other businesses. However, the occupancy level automatically increased with the sale, as Corinthian Realty Partners has decided to relocate its headquarters from Bethesda to its new holding.
