Now, JCI says it will make metal seat adjusters and tracks at two plants in Ottawa County rather than out of the state. The move is expected to add 300 jobs to the two plants by year's end and 525 in all when it reaches full production in later years.
JCI's announcement came as the state offered a $17.4-million single business tax credit for keeping the business in Michigan. Holland Township also granted the company a $4.8-million tax break. JCI said it is investing about $118 million in new tooling and equipment to handle the work.
Milwaukee-based Johnson Controls says it will move production of floor consoles and trim from a plant in Ottawa County's Holland Township to a plant near Tulip City Airport in Holland and move the new seat component work to the Holland Township facility.
