Linens also posted a $4.1 million net loss. The company's total net sales increased 3.3%, to $570.9 million from the year-ago quarter.
During the quarter Linens opened eight new stores, compared to 21 during the same period last year, brining its total units to 499. Throughout the course of the year, executives plan to open a total of 50 stores.
The retailer is currently searching for a chief merchandising officer, and company officials said that they should have the position filled by the end of the quarter. Linen's former chief merchandising officer, Audrey Schlaepfer, resigned in November.
The company expects to post sales growth of 6% to 9% this year. The chain will also undertake store enhancements such as signage improvement.
