"In addition to providing much needed affordable housing, these projects will have a significant economic impact," Gov. Robert L. Ehrlich Jr. says. "Overall, the projects are estimated to generate a total of $2.1 million in selected state revenues over the next five years."
The awards involve three projects in Baltimore; one each in Baltimore, Frederick and Montgomery counties; two in Prince George's County; and two in Wicomico County. The new multifamily developments will offer units not only for low-income families but also for the elderly, as well as for renters with disabilities. Additionally, 277 existing apartments will benefit from renovations.
