David Pinciss, with Vesper Realty Advisors in Boston, tells GlobeSt.com that South Deerfield, MA-based candle company opted to lease 145,000 sf at 75 Canal St. here for its distribution warehouse because of the property's nearby highway location and ease of access. "It was the right building for them," said Pinciss, who negotiated the transaction for the tenant along with Matthew Woods, also with Vesper. Terms of the lease were not disclosed.
Built in 1959, the building, which also contains about 7,000 sf of office space, is situated on 9.9 acres along the Connecticut River. It formerly served as home to General Cable Industries' Western Massachusetts wire manufacturing plant. Yankee Candle was previously located in 125,000 sf of warehouse space at 1111 South Hampton Rd. in Westfield, Pinciss says. The building's owner General Cable Industries was represented in the transaction by was represented by Colebrook Realty Services and the Staubach Co., both of Boston.
