The two-acre project, adjacent to Decatur Square, will offer 19 floor plans ranging from 800 sf to 2,500 sf among one-bedroom and two-bedroom units. A limited number of three-bedroom configurations is also planned. Six walkup-style townhomes will complete the community. About 10,000 sf of street-level retail is also planned for the summer 2006 opening.
"Design and access to nearby Decatur attractions such as retail, restaurants, entertainment and green space, qualifies the Artisan as truly urban in the best sense of the term," says Larry Gellerstedt III, CEO of the Gellerstedt Group.
The Artisan's facade will have two distinct looks, Gellerstedt says. Facing the corner of West Ponce de Leon Avenue and Commerce Drive, the building will feature a tan exterior and five floors of condominiums above the retail storefronts. The northern portion of the building that lines Commerce Drive will include a red brick exterior with townhomes on the first two floors and condominiums on the top two floors.
Gellerstedt Development, a division of the Gellerstedt Group, develops, revitalizes and redevelops intown residential real estate. The Gellerstedt Group was founded in 2003 by Larry Gellerstedt, former CEO of Beers Construction Co. and a long-time Atlanta business and civic leader. Gellerstedt's Jim Privette, a former executive of the Atlanta Development Authority, leads the Artisan development team.
