The company currently occupies approximately 5,000 sf of mostly retail space at 321 Elwood Ave. in Hawthorne. Howard Greenberg, principal of Howard Properties Ltd. of White Plains, represented SignWorks. Ivan Abry and Jeff Warner of Mack-Cali Realty represented the ownership.

Greenberg says that normally it is difficult to find space in Westchester County that would accommodate a company's manufacturing operations. However, he says that the 150 Clearbrook Rd. flex building was a perfect fit for SignWorks. "These are the types of businesses that are good for Westchester County and it is not always easy to find appropriate space for them. This transaction will allow SignWorks to double its space and significantly upgrade its corporate headquarters and production facility, while remaining in Westchester County," Greenberg says.

Shelly Feiner, president of SignWorks, says the company's growth required additional office and manufacturing space and that his firm was committed to keeping operations in Westchester. SignWorks was founded in 1976 in Manhattan and later relocated to Yonkers and then Hawthorne. The company currently employs 22, but Feiner says that with the move the company is planning to bring on additional personnel. Some of the company's major clients include CIBC, McGraw Hill, Mack-Cali Realty, CB Richard Ellis, Newmark, TishmanSpeyer, CDC, Citibank, Northern Westchester Hospital, White Plains Hospital, Columbia University, Pace University and New York University.
