Blythewood, SC-based ALD is an advanced vacuum heat-treating service provider specializing in processes for precision automotive components such as transmission gears, shafts, fuel injector parts and precision bearings. The St. Clair County Economic Development Alliance coordinated the creation of a package of incentives to help ALD decide to locate in Port Huron versus competing sites in Ohio and Ontario, Canada.

The Michigan Economic Growth Authority approved of a MEGA grant for ALD valued at up to $915,000 over the next seven years. The credit against the company's single business tax liability is triggered upon creation of the promised jobs and investment.

"ALD is part of the power train components segment of the automotive industry that is a target market for our community's business attraction efforts," says Doug Alexander, executive director of the Economic Development Alliance.
