Jonathan Gifford, a vice president with NAI Hunneman Commercial's Boston office, tells GlobeSt.com that principals with Gilman & Pastor selected the 38-story landmark property not only because it offered the firm a prestigious downtown location, but because of the views it offered overlooking the city. "They were attracted by the views," says Gifford, noting that there is not a lot of high-rise space on the market that offers such a panoramic cityscape. "It's right in the heart of the Financial District at State and Congress streets."
Terms of the lease were not disclosed, but office rents in the area are generally in the mid $40 per-sf range, according to Gifford. Gilman & Pastor share the 823,000-sf Financial District building with a number of other law firms including Hale & Dorr. Gifford and Joe Flynn, also a vice president with NAI Hunneman Commercial, represented the tenant in the transaction. Equity Office Properties, which owns and operates 60 State St., was self represented.
