ATLANTA-Six members of CB Richard Ellis Inc.'s retail brokerage division in Atlanta have joined the local 16-year-old office of Dallas-based Staubach Co. They are Ray Uttenhove, Liz Whiteside, Maranda Walker, Brian Lefkoff, Loretta Van Zutphen and Lawre Dent.

Uttenhove tells GlobeSt.com her group left for better career-advancing opportunities. "We all left at the same time because we are a closely knit team, joined at the hip, so to speak," Uttenhove says. Leaving CBRE was "one of the hardest decisions I have personally had to make," she adds. Uttenhove was a CBRE professional for 20 years.

Brett Hunsaker, senior managing director in CBRE's Atlanta office, is philosophic about the exodus. "In our industry, there are always opportunities for talented individuals, and while we are sad about Ray's decision, we wish her and her group the best," Hunsaker tells GlobeSt.com. The departures leave CBRE with a five-broker retail staff, although other investment-side professionals work closely with the retail sector.

The six-person team joins the eight-member Staubach retail division, which will be headed by Uttenhove in her new position as executive vice president. Assisting her will be Liz Whiteside, as senior vice president and principal. The Staubach group will oversee client relationships and transactions throughout the Southeast. The Atlanta office did not have a managing principal on site at the time of Uttenhove's appointment.

In their new positions in Staubach's retail sector, Walker will be vice president; Lefkoff, senior associate; Van Zutphen, client services manager and Dent, marketing and research manager. The Staubach representative couldn't provide production volume figures for the Atlanta division year-to-date compared with the comparable 2004 period.

A representative for Staubach tells GlobeSt.com she could not provide details on the drivers behind the firm's retail expansion. But a quick review of the clients the CBRE group will be bringing to Staubach may provide the answer, area retail brokers tell GlobeSt.com. Among the group's clients are Barnes & Noble, BJ's Wholesale Club, Carmax, Flagstar, GAP, Haverty's, Lifeway Christian Stores, Office Depot, Rare Hospitality, Target, TJ Maxx, Washington Mutual and Williams Sonoma.
