Emuge Corp., part of Emuge-Werk Richard Glimpel GmbH & Co. KG, will build a 21,000-sf building as part of its first development phase. The land was recently purchased from St. Pierre Associates II LP. Terms of that acquisition were not disclosed. The transaction was handled by Meredith & Grew senior vice president John Carroll III and vice president Robert Cronin who represented the seller. Emuge was represented by vice president Andrew E. Murray of Katz Cos.
Peter Matysiak, president of Emuge, says in a statement that the new facility will serve as the company's North American headquarters and will establish a base as the firm begins manufacturing cutting tools in the US. Matysiak says the company will also create a technology center at the facility where customers can view demonstrations. The company is currently located in Northborough, MA where more than 10,000 types of cutting tools and accessories are stocked for shipment.
The firm will share the wooded business campus, located just five miles from downtown Worcester and between Interstates 190 and 290, with the University of Massachusetts Medical School, Federal Express, Massachusetts Materials Research Inc. and the American Red Cross. The campus is master planned for 750,000 sf of office, research and development, biotech and light manufacturing uses, about one-third of which is already built out.
