LONGBOAT KEY, FL-This 114-year-old fishing-oriented town of 7,603 permanent residents on the Gulf of Mexico, already home to multimillion-dollar homes, is preparing to welcome still another high-priced community in La Firenza, a $12-million condominium venture being developed by the Orlando division of Phoenix-based Core Construction Co. The development site is about 90 miles southwest of Downtown Orlando.
Edward A. Storey II, Core's Florida business development director, says the 10 homes will be sized from 3,521 sf of living space to 4,810 sf. A two-story waterfront community clubhouse and a security hut is also under construction for the fully gated complex.
Longboat Key, only 11 miles long, is located in southwest Florida's Manatee County, just below Bradenton Beach and just above Sarasota. Area brokers tell GlobeSt.com Longboat Key has two distinctly different personalities. The south end has glamorous condominiums. The north end offers quaint, canal-front homes and low-rise waterfront condos. La Firenza is being built in the middle of the Key at 4131 Gulf of Mexico Dr.
Core's Florida division posted $500 million in sales volume last year and was recently named General contractor of the Year by American Specialty contractors of Florida Inc., according to Storey. The firm also has Florida offices in Naples and Sarasota.
