DETROIT-Detroit Mayor Kwame Kilpatrick will deliver the keynote address during the International Council of Shopping Centers 2005 Michigan Idea Exchange & Alliance Program next month.

The two-day program starting July 13 will be at the Marriott Detroit at the Renaissance Center, will also feature a presentation by the director of real estate at Little Caesar's. Kilpatrick will discuss the renaissance of Detroit and how retailers now look at the city for their new locations. The mayor's remarks will speak during the conference's second day.

Leading off the two-day event will be a program on "Little Caesar's – Get Your Piece of the Pie." During this session, Michael Atwell, vice president of real estate, Little Caesar's Enterprises, will talk about Little Caesar's expansion plans for the Detroitmetropolitan area.

Other event highlights include discussions on the following topics: New retail development in specific Michigan market areas, including redevelopment of existing centers and big boxes; how downtowns in Michigan are marketing their communities and recruiting retailers; and what the future holds for open-air centers in the Detroit market.
