The 55-year-old, who has spent 35 years in the hotel business, says Hay Creek will specialize in hotel development and management. He added that the firm will also provide consultancy services, including asset management.
He says Hay Creek is in the process of submitting plans for a number of ground-up hotel projects, including several in the Washington, DC area and another in the Northeast. He also says that his firm is studying opportunities in New England and in the Southeast. All of its development endeavors would be structured either as limited partnerships or joint ventures, according to MacLeod. He hopes to make an announcement concerning several of the firm's development projects as well as some of its new hires in the next several weeks.
MacLeod joined Starwood Hotels & Resorts of White Plains in 1998 after its acquisition of Westin Hotels & Resorts where he had served as regional director of the Southeast. At Starwood, MacLeod served in various senior executive roles, including executive vice president for Westin Hotels and Resorts, executive vice president of North American Operations, and most recently, as executive vice president of Sheraton Hotels and Resorts Worldwide.
