NORTHBOROUGH, MA-A global high-tech firm will move its warehouse, distribution, R&D and assembly operations into 41,209 sf of warehouse space at 20 Forbes Rd. under a long-term lease valued at more than $1 million.
Akibia, Inc., which is headquartered in Westborough, will move out of its former 48,000-sf facility at 257 Cedar Hill St. in Marlboro and into the 117,504-sf building in August under a lease that runs for five years and seven months.
William Bailey, a principal with Spaulding & Slye Colliers' Boston office, tells GlobeSt.com that the global provider of IT solutions looked at several locations in the Intrastate 495 and Mass Pike area but selected the site because it offered the company a facility with office and engineering space as well as space for its testing and repair needs. "When they went through the analysis of stay versus move, the move was more beneficial," Bailey says. "It was really a good economic deal for them."
The 20 Forbes Rd. building, which is 85% occupied, is one of six in the I-290 Industrial Park, a 577,535 -sf research and development and industrial complex located just off I-290 near I-495 and the Mass Pike. Bailey along with senior vice president Philip DeSimone and associate Kristin O'Shea, also with Spaulding & Slye Colliers, negotiated the transaction on behalf of Rreef, who manages the building on behalf of an institutional client. Mitch Jacoby of Cresa Partners represented Akibia in the lease negotiations.
