ATLANTA-Jim Ledbetter, Mid-Atlantic president of Houston-based Transwestern Commercial Services, has been trying to recruit Lincoln Property Co. big hitter C. Julian Brown for the past 1.5 years. Now he has his man. Brown has joined Transwestern's Atlanta office as a Southeast industrial partner.

"Professionals of Julian's caliber are rare," Ledbetter says. "The character, professionalism and client-first orientation that Julian embodies are the same cornerstones on which Transwestern's business model is constructed."

Brown left Lincoln after 11 years and $187 million in closed transactions. He oversaw the marketing, management and new business development of Lincoln's industrial practice in the Southeast. At Transwestern, he is forming a new regional practice group that will be responsible for industrial brokerage and development in the Southeast. Officials at Lincoln could not be reached for comment by GlobeSt.com's deadline.

"My decision to join Transwestern comes at a pivotal point in my career," Brown says. "While I'm extremely proud of my accomplishments at Lincoln Property Co., I view this new role at Transwestern as a ground-floor opportunity to grow all aspects of Transwestern's industrial practice through management, marketing, leasing, acquisitions and dispositions throughout the Southeast region."

The 46-year-old Brown has been a commercial real estate professional for 21 years. Before working at Lincoln, the Athens, GA native was a principal at Lancaster Brown Real Estate from 1989 to 1994 when Lincoln acquired Lancaster Brown. Brown was a leasing agent at locally based Brannen/Goddard Co. from 1987 to 1989. He started his career as a leasing agent with Ackerman & Co. in 1984 and stayed there until 1987.
