DALLAS-Pushing ahead on a fast-paced expansion, Dollar Tree Stores Inc. has signed a five-year lease for a pad site in PO'B Montgomery & Co.'s under-construction shopping center along Interstate 30 in Southwest Dallas. Construction will begin in October on a 10,030-sf building.

The deal went full circle in four months, Jim Weir, vice president in the Dallas office for Fort Worth-based Woodmont Co., tells GlobeSt.com. The PO'B Montgomery development is anchored by a Best Buy and will neighbor Wal-Mart and Lowe's Home Improvement Warehouse. "There's no other retail in Southwest Dallas," Weir explains about the Chesapeake, VA-based Dollar Tree's interest in the site. The store's tentative opening is April 2006.

The Dallas-based developer's newest project is rising in Pinnacle Park at the interstate's junction with Chalk Hill Road. The build-out predominately is ticketed for big box space.Dollar Tree has been in high gear for at least a year to expand its Dallas/Fort Worth footprint. Besides the PO'B Montgomery site, recent deals have been struck in Paris, Saginaw, Corsicana, Waxahachie and Rockwall. Three more are in the hopper and are expected to close this week, says Weir, who's teaming with Woodmont's senior vice president Jennifer Frank on the account. "Dollar Tree is not slowing down at all," Weir says.
