CAMBRIDGE, MA-In September, the Community Charter School of Cambridge will open its doors in two Bent Street buildings that once served a telecommunications company and a research and development facility. The school, which signed a long-term lease with extension rights for the 30,676 sf, two-building complex at 245 and 247R Bent St., will move into the property early next week and begin renovating.
Meredith & Grew's Joe Flaherty tells GlobeSt.com that the site offered a "creative re-use" of the existing buildings He represented owner Laverty-Lohnes Properties along with his colleague, Tucker Hansen. "For the school, it worked pretty well," says Flaherty, adding that the buildings will be converted over the next month into classroom and office space.
Terms of the lease were not released. The tenant was represented by Robert Fitzgerald of CB Richard Ellis/Whittier Partners. The school, which will begin with 180 students, will start with grades seven through nine.
