David Shaffer will lead the latest initiative for GVA Cawley, a Dallas-based firm that's been rapidly making changes since it became a GVA affiliate at the beginning of this year. The investment sales group also consists of Jay Reinke, Aline Leslie, Albert Hernandez, Kevin Ward and Phillip Yarbrough. Four more brokers will be hired by year's end, Shaffer says.
Ran Holman, managing partner of GVA Cawley, says planning began about seven months ago. "We really wanted to branch out so we decided to build a division around him," he tells GlobeSt.com. Shaffer, whose forte is multifamily asset sales, also will oversee retail and office transactions. Industrial sales will remain part of managing partner and principal Terry Darrow's territory.
Holman says the play targets private capital investors. "It requires a lot of shoe leather, but if you're aggressive and smart, there's some market share to be gained," he says.
Shaffer, promoted from director, says the team's first Dallas/Fort Worth sales--one office building and two multifamily complexes--will close in 30 to 60 days. He's got eight listings in hand and four more on the horizon. He says the annual goal is to secure 20 to 25 listings per year and close them. "We plan on closing everything we get," he says.
