SHELTON, CT-Latex Foam International will be taking over its new leased manufacturing facility at 12 Commerce Dr. in the next few weeks. The company, which is headquartered at 510 River Rd. here, has signed a 10-year lease for 46,720 sf of space for a new manufacturing facility.

Interior tenant work is nearly complete and Latex Foam is expected to begin manufacturing operations there in the next few weeks, according to Sean P. McDonnell, a director with Cushman & Wakefield of Connecticut, which represented the company in negotiations with building owner First Treetops Limited Partnership. The firm is the only US-based Talalay latex producer.

McDonnell said Bill Purcell of the Valley Chamber of Commerce and Shelton commercial property owner Robert Scinto of RD Scinto Enterprises helped Latex Foam secure the space in Shelton for its manufacturing operations. He explains that earlier this year Baldwin Technologies relocated from 12 Commerce Dr. to Scinto's 2 Trapp Falls property, also in Shelton. As part of the deal, Scinto assumed Baldwin's lease liabilities at 12 Commerce. McDonnell says that Scinto's firm performed tenant improvements at the site to make the space suitable for Latex Foam's manufacturing operations.

"Latex Foam International has been experiencing tremendous growth and required a facility that would accommodate current space needs and future requirements," McDonnell says. The company will be using the site for its fabrication and shipping center and will have approximately 50 employees working at the property. There is currently about 23,000 sf of flex/office space available for lease.
