The project, designed by Denver-based Fentress Bradburn Architects, will include exterior materials of copper, stone, wood and glass. Overall, it will include 30,000 sf of freespan ballroom space and 10,000 sf of breakout meeting rooms, with 80,000 sf of support space. The building will sit on top of a 330-car underground parking garage. The total budget for the project also includes upgrades to the existing adjacent parking structure and off-site road improvements.

Construction is scheduled to begin in April 2006 and completed by October 2007. "The town of Vail is undergoing an incredible transformation," says Tim Walsh, head of Mortenson in Colorado. "The Vail Conference Center will be a tremendous addition to the town, making it a prime destination for business meetings and conferences." Mortenson's Colorado projects include the Denver Art Museum addition, 1616 Glenarm in the heart of Downtown, the Denver Health Far Western addition, and commercial construction at Stapleton.
