SCARSDALE, NY-Now that the Scarsdale Village Board of Trustees has given the green light for the venture, Ginsburg Development LLC of Hawthorne seeks planning board approval for its $40-million Christie Place development. GDC's plan will feature 42 age-restricted condominiums, approximately 383 parking spaces, 12,000 sf of retail space, a landscaped rooftop plaza and a police kiosk.

The complex, which will be erected on a village-owned 69,200-sf parking lot located across from the Metro-North railroad tracks, will be designed to conform to the Tudor style of the village's Downtown, company officials point out. GDC had been named the designated developer by the village's Land Use Committee last year. At that time a representative of the company said the project would cost approximately $40 million to complete. Although no timetable has been set as yet, according a company spokesperson, GDC is hopeful the project will commence sometime next year. The development will take approximately two years to complete.

Martin Ginsburg, the principal of GDC, says the project has the potential to "greatly benefit Downtown Scarsdale, injecting new life into the area while building on the great strengths of the village." Other GDC communities include Ichabod's Landing in Sleepy Hollow; Harbors at Haverstraw (NY); Marbury Corners in Pelham; Woodland Hills in Danbury, CT; Riverbend in Peekskill; Hudson Pointe in Poughkeepsie; the Goodwin Estate in Hartford, CT; and the Greens at Gillette Ridge in Bloomfield, CT.
