Terms of Durrett's contract with the coalition were not disclosed by the Metro Atlanta Chamber of Commerce which fostered the coalition's creation. The coalition will officially be open for business in September. The group's goal will be to suggest new directions for development growth in the metro area, area marketers and brokers intimate with the group's founding tell GlobeSt.com.
A board of directors for the coalition is being formed. The chamber's Quality Growth Task Force sparked the formation of the Quality Growth Coalition, according to the chamber. The task force worked from October 2003 to May 2004. Tom Bell, CEO, Cousins Properties, chaired the task force. Vice chairmen were Samuel Olens, chairman, Cobb County Commission and Atlanta Regional Commission, and Lee Thomas, president and chief operating officer, Georgia-Pacific Corp.
