Kalinsky, who will continue to operate his Jeffrey stores as president and CEO, will work along side Nordstrom corporate merchandise managers "to further enhance the company's merchandise categories in the designer area," according to Nordstrom's announcement. Pete Nordstrom, Nordstrom full-line store president, calls Jeffrey "one of the most talented people in retail" and says the chain wants to apply his expertise advance its designer strategies and complement the work of Nordstrom's merchant team.

Jeffrey New York was one of the first fashion businesses to open in Manhattan's meatpacking district in August 1999 and is known for cutting edge fashion with a mix of designer apparel, shoes and accessories in a 12,000-sf space. Jeffrey Kalinsky started his retail career selling designer shoes at his father's store, Bob Ellis, in Charleston, SC and has worked for Bonwit Teller, Bergdorf Goodman, Donna Karan and Barneys New York.

The Jeffrey stores in New York and Atlanta are operated by Just Jeffrey Inc., while JSK Enterprises Inc. runs a luxury footwear boutique, Bob Ellis, that was recently renamed Jeffrey in Atlanta. Sales of Just Jeffrey Inc. and JSK Enterprises Inc. combined last year totaled approximately $35 million.
