Chad Lewis, a former strength and conditioning coach for the Dallas Mavericks, signed a five-year lease for the historic property's retail foothold at the corner of Main and Field streets, Elizabeth Nabholtz, an associate with locally based Weitzman Group, tells GlobeSt.com. "It was formerly restaurant space. That's the reason it worked so well for them," she says, citing plans for a Sept. 12 grand opening with a handful of Lewis' friends and superstar athletes from Dallas Cowboys and Mavericks, Denver Nuggets and Phoenix Suns. Teri Dorazil of City Commercial Realty LLC in Dallas negotiated the pact for the local property owner, Adolphus Hotel Associates JV.

Nabholtz says the former Pegaso's Cafe at 1302 Main St. has been retooled into a high-end sports bar replete with nine plasma televisions and a large projection screen. Lewis planned to open today, but has delayed the soft opening by a few days, according to Nabholtz.

Lewis operated TEN Food and Beverages for roughly four years in Snider Plaza before shutting down and beginning a search for a downtown spot. According to his broker, the restaurateur not only wanted in the CBD, but chased a high-profile location that allowed him to tap the lunch crowd as well as the after-work circuit.
