Odom Construction Co. bought the 3601 Executive Blvd. building, positioned on nearly 1.2 acres, from Baumer Foods Inc. of Louisiana, which vacated it about a year ago after buying a barbecue sauce competitor and labeling the real estate as surplus, David Rouble with Thomson Realty Group in Dallas tells GlobeSt.com. The going-forward plan calls for roughly $200,000 in renovations to the building, including a class A finish-out for the office area.
Rouble says the quick decision went to a listing within 1.5 miles of Odom's present 6,000-sf location along Edinburg Street. The general contractor has been in place for four years, but is now on a month-to-month lease, he adds. "They looked at quite a few," he says, citing the easy access to Town East Boulevard weighed heavily on the decision as did the price. Yvonne Dower at Prudential Texas Properties in Mesquite had the property listed at $525,000.
